Would like to know if someone pulls show me how to properly design a shirt and buttons. I’m putting together a project for my daughters graduation.

If you still need help with this question, here is what I suggest. Keep in mind that .png or .pdf files are best for submitting to a print resource, depending on their recommendations. You can do this in Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator. Ask the vendor for their specifications needed to produce the quality of shirt you want. Are you using a photograph(s)? Do you want graphics added? What color base shirt do you want to print on? What type of "feeling" do you want the shirt/message to convey? I'd be happy to help. Just need a little more info please.
