Connor began driving from Trent at 60 miles per hour at 9am, 2 hours before Trent started out to catch him. If Connor was still 60 miles ahead at 3pm, how fast was Trent driving in terms of miles per hour?

distance = rate x time and rate = distance/time
Connor travels for 6 hrs @ 60 mi/hr = 360 mi.
Trent travels for 4 hrs (starts 2 hrs after Connor, at 11 am) @ x miles/hr. At 3 pm Trent is 60 miles behind, so he only traveled 300 mi. by 3 pm. His average speed must be 300/4 = 75 mph.

Is Trent a town or a person? If the distance between them remains constant their speeds must be constant. Review post for accuracy.05/04/22
