Great question!
One of the best ways to gain confidence when speaking is to be comfortable with the discussion topic. Remember, nervousness around public speaking often stems from a fear and a great deal of negative self-talk. The manner in which you structured the question was dynamic. It showed a focus on being good or great at publicly speaking and not on the struggle or fear around it.
What that shows is your mind is ready to take the "stage" by storm. So here are some steps I have seen work for others:
1. Are you comfortable with the material you are presenting? Is it something your thoroughly understand? (Understanding yourself)
2. Are there any questions you're afraid someone will ask you? (Identifying Pitfalls)
3. If so, what are the answers to those questions so you know how to overcome them? (Preparation)
When all three of those categories come together, you are able to present any topic with a greater level of confidence. Hope this helps.

Public Speaker 20+ years, expertise in presentations & job interviews
Public Speaking is a skill and and an art and we use it everyday. From a huge presentation at work to a 1:1 conversation with friends or family, the ability to speak comfortably and confidently is an essential life skill. Many employers refer to it as a soft skill, and they are looking for job applicants who showcase the ability to speak with confidence.
In my experience, with patience and practice, developing the capacity for "relaxed confidence" will go a long way.
