let's say you want to make cookies instead of best ever brownies to bring in to class on your birthday. Your recipe calls for 2 eggs and 2.5 cups of flour per batch. In your kitchen, you have loads of all the other ingredients but only 13 eggs and 7.5 cups of flour. How many batches of cookies can you make? How many of the ingredients, cups of flour or eggs are left?

There are 13 eggs, so presuming there is enough flour, 6 full batches (13/2) could be made.

There are 7.5 cups of flour, so given enough eggs, 3 batches (7.5/2.5) can be made.

Given the available ingredients, only 3 batches can be made. Six batches would require 15 cups of flour. Three batches require 6 eggs, so 7 eggs would be left over.
