Concentration of I2 = 0.5 mol I2 / 5.0 L = 0.1 M
I2 ==> 2I- ... balanced equation
0.1......0.....Initial
-x.....+2x....Change
0.1-x..2x....Equilibrium
K = [I-]2 / [I2]
3.6x10-10 = (2x)2 / 0.1-x) and if x is small relative to 0.1, we can ignore and not use the quadratic
3.6x10-10 = 4x2 / 0.1
4x2 = 3.6x10-11
x2 = 9x10-12
x = 3.0x10-6 (Answer A)
Not sure how the correct answer is 6.0x10-3, unless I made a math error some place.
