Fixed cost + Variable Cost = Total cost
Fixed cost + Cost per mile x number of miles driven = Total cost
Let x = number of miles you drove
Substitute into the equation
35+0.3x = 164 Now solve. Subtract 35 from both sides of the equation
0.3x = 129 Divide both sides of the equation by 0.3
0.3x = 129
x = 430 miles
