A ramp for the disabled is to be constructed to allow access to a building entrance. 

The angle of elevation must be 12°.

The height at the end of the ramp must be 14 inches off the ground.

What must be the length of the ramp?

You can construct a right triangle with the height of the triangle being 14 inches and the length of the ramp being the hypotenuse, then you get the relationship:

Sin(12°) = 14 / hyp

Then you solve algebraic for the hyp

And you get: hyp = 14/sin(12°) = 67.3

Answer: Length of ramp is 67.3 inches
