asked 01/17/22Set up an algebraic equation and solve for X. Then find the indicated angle measures. angle AOB = 4x - 2. angle BOC = 5x - 10. angle COD = 2x + 14.
angle AOD is the biggest angle. It is obtuse but does not equal 180. angles AOB, BOC, and COD are all within AOD. AOD's value is not given.
I do not get how to solve for "X" without having at least one of the angle's values.

You are correct: "I do not get how to solve for "X" without having at least one of the angle's values."
You may solve for x (that is, find the value of x) using ONE EQUATION. Additional equations simply make the computations easier (for example, you may add the angles if AOD is 180°) to produce the one equation to solve.
Looking for possibilities ---
Since "angles AOB, BOC, and COD are all within AOD",
AOD = 4x - 2. + 5x - 10 + 2x + 14 = 11x + 2
Consider the possibility that angle AOD is 90º (usually with a "stairstep" to indicate that)
