Hi,
if you have a solid with two bases that they are the same measure ALWAYAS volume is area of base times height
such as cylinder====> area of base * height / base is circle
cube =====> area of base * height / base is square
prism =====> area of base * height / base can be triangle, square, trapezoid, or so on
If you have a solid with one base the height perpendiculars to base ALWAYS volume is 1/3 area of base * height
such as cone =======> 1/3area of base * height / base is circle
pyramid=====> 1/3area of base * height / base can be triangle, square, diamond, so on
If you know this rule never forget how you find volume !!!
Of course sphere is different that Volume is 4/3 ∏ R3

Hi Kevin! In order to find the volume, we need to know what we're finding the volume of. For example, the formula for the volume of a cube is different from formula for the volume of a sphere. What are you trying to find the volume of?
