SLOPE-INTERCEPT form of a linear equation:
Y = MX + B
M = Slope of the line; B = Y-intercept (where the line crosses/intersects the Y-axis)
PARALLEL LINES have slopes that are equal/the same.
PERPENDICULAR LINES have slopes that are opposite reciprocals of each other.
Equation of the known line is: y = 1/2x + 4
Slope (M) = 1/2 and Y-intercept (B) = +4 or (0,4)
A line parallel to that line will have the same slope (M), a slope of 1/2. The new line goes through the point (0,-4), which is located ON the y-axis which means that it is the y-intercept for the new line. So, B = -4.
y = mx + b -----> y = 1/2x + (-4) or
y = 1/2x - 4
