Comparing two Likert instruments in SPSS

Question

I used two Likert instruments to measure stress on one sample, and would like to compare the two instruments in SPSS. I am unsure of the method to do this.

If you want to compare these two instruments to see if they are related and they include total scores from each Likert scale, then you could run a correlation. If they are highly correlated, this would give support for your two Likert scales measuring the same construct, stress.
