Hi Sparkle!
This is what your problem looks like on a number line:
If you do 10.5 - 4.5 in a calculator, you'll see that 6 is your answer. That is because 6 is 4.5 points away from 10.5.
< ---- 6 ------ 10.5 ------- 15 ---- >
Then if you do 10.5 + 4.5 in a calculator, you'll see that 15 is your answer. That is because 15 is 4.5 points away from 10.5.
Let me know if you have any questions or if you'd like to set up a tutoring session for future homework! Best of luck; I believe in you!

I think I may have assumed your problem was different. If it's asking how far away 4.5 is from 10.5, then what you'll have to put into your calculator is 10.5 - 4.5 since subtracting two numbers will always find the distance between them. Your answer would then be 6. They are 6 units away from each other. I hope this helped!12/15/21
