y= (-1/2)x + b in slope intercept form. parallel lines have the same slope which = the x coefficent when the equation is solved for y

2= (-1/2)(5) + b

4 =-5 + 2b

2b = 9

b = 9/2 = the y intercept

y= -x/2 + 9/2

or multiply by 2

2y = -x + 9

x+2y = 9
