I think this has more to do with formatting than with a diagram; angle y cannot even be in the same quadrant as 285° 32' = 285 + 32/60 degrees. y = cos-1 [sin(285.533..)] = 164.4666.. = 164 + 60*(0.4666..) = 164° 28'. (Of course y could also be 360° - the above, or 195° 32' which is 90° from the starting angle; but nothing was specified in the problem to cause modifying what comes out of the calculator).
