What type of triangle is given by the points D (1, 1) , E (3, 8) , and F (5, 1)

Have you tried to plot the points in the coordinate plane? If you do, it will become very apparent what kind of triangle it is. You could compute the distances between all 3 sides, but a picture will reveal the answer much quicker.
