One lap of the track covers 1/4 of a mile.
To find how many laps would equal 6 miles, we set up the equation:
x = 6
Multiply both sides by 4 ----> 4 * x = 6 * 4 ----> x = 24
So he would have to run 24 laps to complete the race.
