Point P is 3/10 of the way when A + 3/10 (dist from A to B)in the line from A to B is P. This is along the hypotenuse that runs from A to B. Because of similar triangles you can do the same thing for the x and y coordinates (which are the sides of the right triangle)
(xp , yp) = (xA + .3(xB - xA) , yA + .3(yB - yA) )
