Let us see if either reactant is limiting:
mols CO = 8.900 g CO x 1 mol CO / 28 g = 0.3179 mols
mols O2 = 8.900 g O2 x 1 mol O2 / 32 g = 0.2781 mols
Based on the mole ratio of 2 mol CO : 1 mol O2, the CO would be limiting as there is not twice as many mols.
Theoretical yield is determined by the limiting reactant:
