Let the measure of the angle be "x".
Then the supplement would be "180 - x".
And the measure of the complement is "90 - x" which means that 2 times the measure of the complement is 2(90 - x).
When the problem says that "the measure of the supplement of an angle is 36 more than" something then we could subtract 36 from the supplement to get the "something".
So:
(180 - x) - 36 = 2(90 - x)
180 - x - 36 = 180 - 2x [Now subtract 180 from both sides to get:
-x - 36 = -2x [Now add 36 to both sides to get:
-x = 36 - 2x [Now add 2x to both sides to get:
x = 36
So, the angle is 36° so that means its complement is 90 - 36 = 54°
