2.Count the number of groups of electrons around the central atom. A group is a lone pair of electron, single bond, or a multiple bond. Use this number to determine the type of hybrid orbitals used in bonding and the bond angle.

3.draw and label lobes corresponding to the hybrid orbitals determined in in #2 above. Show overlap of orbitals in the case of sigma bonds.


4.Pi bonds can be depicted by showing overlap of the p orbitals.
