The molecular formula is a whole number multiple of the empirical formula.
The molar mass of the empirical formula C2H2N = 24 + 2 + 14 = 40
If you meant to write that the molar mass was 40 g /mol, then the molecular formula would be C2H2N.
If you actually meant that the molar mass was 46 g /mol, then there is no such compound.
So, please check the question again, and make sure you copied it correctly.
