Mills authored Sociological Imagination in 1959. He stated that sociological imagination allows people to see the interconnection between their lives and the challenges they face at any given time or situation. Mills’ is also suggesting the social responsibility each person has in a society.
The scenario of poor communication due to unstable internet connectivity is probably low on the scale of challenges that require imagination to resolve the problem. The problem is easily resolved by getting a better internet provider and realizing that there are peak hours when every student at your college is trying to submit homework. Log into the discussion board or library.
The question here is a limited environment or context with the larger society. This example of poor communication due to mechanical/computer functions is not precisely what Mills’ discusses. He suggested that personal issues/challenges in the context of what is going on in the larger society and the connection to the individual's social responsibility. A better scenario might be that an entire geographical area of a country has no internet access and how such a problem challenges one's ability to function and fulfill their obligations as understood within the society.
