asked 10/06/21Find the distance between the two after 1 hour.
Ship “A” leaves port P on course 3000 degrees true and on the same time ship “B” leaves port P on course N 300degrees E. After sailing for 1 hour, ship “A” has travelled 10 nautical miles and found ship “B” bearing 500 degrees true.

ASA for a triangle
you're given
angle side angle, call them AcB
and you want to find side a opposite angle A
use an online triangle calculator a = about 4.062 miles
if A=30 degrees
c=8 miles
B=50 degrees
that's not exactly the problem you asked, but solve your c=10 with whatever 2 angles, A and B you want the same way to get a=distance between the two ships
or if you want to solve by hand
find C =180-30-50=100
then use the law of sines to find side a
a/sinA=c/sinC
a= sinA(c)/sinC
