The acceleration of a NASCAR race car is zero. Does this necessarily mean that the velocity of the car is zero? If the speed of the car is constant as it goes around the track, is its average acceleration necessarily zero? Justify your answers.

"Acceleration is 0" is equivalent to "velocity is constant".

Therefore

"Acceleration is 0" does not necessarily mean that velocity must be 0.

It can be any other velocity as long as it is constant.

If the speed is constant that does not mean that velocity is constant -- velocity may be changing direction. Therefore acceleration may not be 0.
