Part 1: Which of the following salts produces a basic solution in water: NaF, KCl, NH4Cl? Choose all that apply.

a. NaF

b. KCl

c. NH4Cl

d. None of the choices will form a basic solution.

Part 2: Write the reaction responsible for the solution being basic. Do not include spectator ions.

If you chose multiple solutions in part 1, then write the reaction for the most basic solution.

*I know the answer to Part 1 is (a) and I thought the answer to Part 2 was F- (aq) + H2O (l) --> HF (aq) + OH-(aq) but apparently it is not, so please help*

Anthony T.

I would have answered it the way you did.

For the people in the future, the formula is correct, it's just the arrow needs to be changed. The arrow is supposed to be the equilibrium arrow (the 2 arrows stacked, pointing in 2 different directions).
