The waves of a tsunami have peaks 60 m high and 200 km apart. At what speed are the waves traveling?
1 Expert Answer
The basic wave equation:
v = fλ
You know the wavelength (lambda=200km), but you don't know the frequency. The amplitude (60m) is irrelevant. The wave velocity is unrelated to how high the waves are.
There isn't enough information here to answer the question. You'd need to know the frequency (f, typically expressed in inverse seconds, or Hz).

To determine speed frequency is needed, not amplitude.08/28/21
