the number i have came up with is like adding 5, 10, and 20

it's a geometric sequence with common ratio = 2= r and a = 5 = 1st term

each term is twice the previous term

a, ar, ar^2, ar^3, ar^4, ar^5, ...

5, 5(2), 5(2)^2, 5(2)^3, 5(2)^4, 5(2)^5, ...

= 5,10, 20, 40, 80, 160, ....

5,10,20,40,....

you see any terms times 2 makes the next term, so

5,10,20,40, 80, 160, 320,640,...
