Here something you can try.
By changing 36 to a fraction "over 1" (i.e. 36/1 = 36), you can do some cancelling and simplifying and solve like so:

11 * 36 = 11 * 36 = 11 * 36 = 11 * 3 = Get it?

Ok, I see that you changed your question. I don't see in the equation where you multiply 11/12 by 12. I see that you multiply it by 36. Where is the 12?
