Propene is a 3 carbon (prop) alkene (double bond). It is CH3CH=CH2. When this compound reacts with hydrogen gas (H2), the reaction is referred to as hydrogenation, and the product is propane (3 carbon alkane)
CH3CH=CH2 + H2 ==> CH3CH2CH3
propene.........hydrogen.....propane
