Pentan-1-ol: pent means 5 carbons and -ol mean an alcohol, i.e. -OH. The -1 indicates the -OH is on the first (#1) carbon. So it would be CH3CH2CH2CH2CH2OH (also called n-pentanol)
Butanoic acid: the prefix "but" means four carbons. The acid group is -COOH so the structure would be
CH3CH2CH2COOH
If these two compounds react, you get an ester and water as the product:
CH3CH2CH2COOH + CH3CH2CH2CH2CH2OH ==> CH3CH2CH2COOCH2CH2CH2CH2CH3 + H2O
