You can use cover up method here when you have given standard form of linear equation

if y -x = 5; then y = 5 (just cover x)

y - x = 5; -x = 5; x = -5 (cover y)

These are the intercepts when you graph the equation the line passes the points (0,5 and (-5, 0)
