Did you mean y = x2 + 3x + 2? If so set it to zero and solve for x:
x2 + 3x + 2 = 0
Factor the quadratic:
(x+2)(x+1) = 0
Now set each factor to zero and solve for x:
x+2 = 0
x = -2
x+1 = 0
x = -1
The polynomial crosses the x-axis at x = -2 and at x = -1.
