asked 07/23/21How do I determine the exact length of wood in this question please!?
To support a new 5m wall in the construction of a home, the carpenters nail a piece of wood from the top of the wall to the floor, with the piece of wood forming the hypotenuse of a right triangle it makes with the wall and floor. The piece of wood is nailed to the ground such that it makes a 30° angle with the floor. Determine the EXACT length of the piece of wood.

10 meters
the hypotenuse of the right triangle is twice the length of the wall height: 2 x 5m = 10m
wood length = 5m/sin30 = 5/1/2 = 2(5) = 10 meters
you want the hypotenuse of the right triangle
the wall is the opposite side. sin30 = the opposite side divided by the hypotenuse
opposite side divided by opposite side/hypotenuse = the hypotenuse
o/(o/h)= o(h/o) = h
5/sin30 = 5/(1/2) = 10 meters
or
wood length = 5csc30 = 5(2) = 10 m that's an exact length, if 5m is the exact height of the wall
the right triangle formed is 5 - 5sqr3 - 10. distance from the bottom of the wood to the wall is 5sqr3 m.
