The trick to this is to calculate the difference between the terms, and see what is happening to the differences.

 

38 - 14 = 24

74 - 38 = 36

122 - 74 = 48 

 

and so on.

 

When you see the pattern, then apply it to determine how many the NEXT difference will be, and add it to the last term.
