Pearson's R effect Size

Question

In my data, I got p<.001 what does this tell me about the effect size? I am new to stats and this is all so confusing :0(

In a word, nothing.

A tiny P means that the difference between variables is significant (because the chance P of this difference being a coincidence is miniscule), but not much about the relationship between the variables.

Effect size is generally calculated by ( [mean of one variable] - [mean of other variable] ) / standard deviation.
