I have a foil with a mass of 1.235 g. the length is 6 7/8 and the width is 6 1/8. I need help in calculating the volume and thickness of the foil

The volume of the foil will be that of a cube and = A*thickness=tV. The mass will equal density * volume=ρV. The density of Al = 2.710 gm/cm³. Putting these facts together V=6.875*6.125 =42.1 cm³ and t= 1.235/2.710/42.1= .0071 cm or 7.1mm

We can solve for volume using the equation Density = mass / volume.

Rearranging that equation, volume = mass / density

The density of aluminum is 2.70 g/cm³.

Volume = 1.235g / 2.70 g/cm³ = 0.457 cm³

Are the length and width in the problem given in inches? If so, convert the inches to centimeters (there are 2.54 cm per inch).

Then use the equation volume = length X width X height.

(height would be the same as thickness in this case)
