Having 6 people chosen in one particular order is the permutation 6P6 and it's value is 720 meaning there are 720 different possible orders of these 6 people. You can get that number using the Permutation equation nPr = n!/(n - r)! or by using a permutation function that is built into your calculator.
An explanation is the if the people are given the designations A, B, C, D, E, F then the sample space is:
A B C D E F
A B C D F E
A B C F D E

\/
F E D C B A
For a total of 720 possible combinations.
Only one of these is the order used in the spelling bee. So the probability of selecting that order is 1/720

OK. I was assuming YOU were one of the people in the spelling bee making 6 total people. Obviously, that is incorrect. So try 5P5 (which is 120) making the probability 1/12006/07/21
