Look at the oxidation numbers for each element on both sides of the equation
Mg on left is zero and Mg on the right is 2+. Mg has lost electrons and so is oxidized = reducing agent
Al on left is 3+ and Al on right is zero. Al has gained electrons and so is reduced = oxidizing agent
Oxidized: Mg
Oxidizing Agent: Al
Reduced: Al
Reducing Agent: Mg
