Help to Understand Math Better
First you use the Phytagorean Theorem to find the missing sides of the triangle inside the figure.
Apply this formula to find the missing lengths of the sides of the triangle inside the figure:
a2 +b2=c2
so the b is given and the triangle should be a right triangle
b=8
a2+82=c2
a2+64=c2
so since it is a right triangle like a 3,4,5 triangle you need know the Phytagorean Triplets.
The missing sides of the triangle is 6 and 10.
a=6
b=8
c=10
Next you need to find the lateral area.
To find the lateral area of a square pyramid you need to apply this formula:
s1=1 sqrt((w)2+h2+w sqrt(1)2+h2
__. __
2. 2
Then you plug in the values inside this formula.
1 sqrt(6)2+82+36 *sqrt(1)2+82=142.044
__ __
2 2
The lateral area needs to be rounded to the nearest hundredth
LA=142.04
ANS: LA=142.04
To find total area you need to apply this formula:
a*(a+sqrt(a2+4h2))
By plugging in the values to the formula and using it the solution should turn out to be this:
TA=138.528
The Answer should be rounded to the nearest hundredth.
TA=138.53
ANS: TA=138.53
