The formula for surface area of a sphere is
A=4pi(r^2) = about 4(3.14)(r^2) = 12.56r^2 where r= the radius of the sphere
take the radius, square it and then multiply that by about 12.6
if the radius = 1 foot, then the surface area = about 12.6 square feet
if radius = 2 feet, the surface area = about 50.4 square feet
if you looked at the sphere in two dimensions, as a circle, its area would be A= pi(r^2)
in 3 dimensions, the surface area is 4 times the area of that circle.
