Question

Find the unit rate for number of parts manufactured per hour if 1363 parts are made in 5 hours. Round to the nearest integer.

the answer i've found is : 251 parts/h

The length of a rectangle is 5 cm less than twice the width. The perimeter of the rectangle is 26 cm. What are the dimensions of the rectangle?

length = 4 cm; width = 9 cm

a) 1363/5 ≈ 273 parts/hr

b) Let L = the length of the rectangle and W = the width.

From the description

L= 2W-5

Perimeter of the rectangle, p = 26 = 2L + 2W

Substituting for L in the perimeter equation

2(2W-5) + 2W = 26

4W-10 + 2W = 26

6W = 26+10 = 36

W = 36/6 = 6

L = 2W-5 = 12-5 = 7

Width = 6 cm

Length = 7 cm
