Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
x=9, y=-1
2x+y=17 multiply by 2
4x+2y = 34, subtract the other equation
3x+2y = 25 eliminating one variable, y
x = 9
substitute 9 for x in the 1st equation
2(9) + y = 17
y=17-18 =-1
