(5,-3) is 5 to the right of x=0, and 3 below y=0. x=0 is the y axis, y=0 is the x axis
x=5 is to the right of x=0 by 5 units. y=-3 is 3 units below y=0
w/x =y/z cross multiply to get wz=xy, then divide both sides by w to get
x =xy/w
(4,8),(9,2)
line through those points has slope = (8-2)/(4-9) = 6/-5 = -6/5 = -1.2
slope is the "rise over run" or the difference in y coordinates divided by the difference in x coordinates. 8-2 divided by 4-9
(-7,-1) is in quadrant III. Only quadrant III has x<0 and y<0. In quadrant I, x and y are both positive. In quadrant II, y is positive but x is negative. In quadrant III both are negative. In quadrant IV, x is positive but y is negative.
1st choice, not a function because x=-8 has 2 y values due to the points (-8,-6) and (-8,1) IF you plot those two points on a graph, you can draw a vertical line through those two points. It's not a function if it is possible to draw a vertical line and intersect more than one point. It's called the "vertical line test"
