1) Find the area of a shaded triangle:
Area = (1/2)·base·height
You know the lengths of the base and height because points A, B, C , and D are the midpoints of
each 4 unit long side. A midpoint splits a side exactly in half.
2) Since there are 4 congruent shaded triangles
Area of the shaded region = 4 x (Area of one shaded triangle)
3) P(shaded region) = (Area of shaded region) / (Area of 4x4 square) x 100%
