I need help solving this question please

Two planes leave an airport at the same time. Their speeds are 130 miles per hour and 150 miles per hour, and the angle between their courses is 38∘. How far apart are they after 2.5 hours? Round answers to the nearest whole number.

232 miles apart after 2.5 hours


draw a right triangle with hypotenuse = 130, angle=38

height = 130sin38 = 80

draw another adjoining right triangle just to the right

it has base = 150-(130cos38) = 47.56. 80/47.56 = tan59.28

hypotenuse is the distance between the planes after one hour = height divided by sin59.28 = 80/sin59.28 = 93

93x2.5 = 233 miles
