A spherical storage tank has a length of radius of 2 ft. What is the surface area (in square feet) of the storage tank? Use the calculator value of 𝜋. (Round your answer to two decimal places.)

 

The storage tank needs to be painted, and you can only purchase full pints of rust-proofing paint. Determine the number of pints of paint that must be purchased to paint the tank if 1 pint covers approximately 40 ft2.

Formula for surface area of a sphere is 4 pi r2 = 4*3.14* 22 = 50.24 square feet.



50.24/40 = 1.25, so you need to purchase 2 pints.

Sorry. Misread the question. They want you to use the calculator Pi and THEN round. It's 50.27
