So, the diameter of the semi-circle is 6 mm so the radius of the semi-circle would be 6/2 = 3 mm
The area of the semi-circle is
[3.14(3)2]/2
(3.14 x 9)/2
28.26 mm2/2
14.13 mm2
The area of the rectangle would be 6 mm x 3 mm = 18 mm2
To find the area of the blue shaded region, subtract the area of the semi-circle from the area of the rectangle.
18 - 14.16 = 3.84 mm2
So, the area of the blue shaded region is 3.84 square mm.
