Converting Standard Form To Vertex Form

y = 3x2 +15x +29

Step 1 y-29 = 3 (x2+5)

Step 2 y-29 = 3 (x2 + 5/2^2)

Step 3 y-29 = 3 ( x2+5x +25/4)

Step 4 y-29 +25/4 = 3( x2+5/2x)

Step 5 y= 3( x+5/2)2 +91/4 This is wrong, I am aware. It should end with 41/4.

What step did I error?

Perhaps in step 2, you meant to write 3 (x^2 + 5x + (5/2)^2). That would have been correct on the RHS. On the LHS you'd still need to add 3*(5/2)^2 to maintain the equality.
