What does "Its on the graph" even mean?

I'm doing trig and I'm supposed to find the trig function but it says that (0, -5) is on the graph. If it helps the range is [-5, 2]. I am just really lost right now and I can't find any answers on what that saying means.

The graph of a function f is the set of all points (x,f(x)) in 2 dimensions. Since x can be any number, (x,f(x)) is a curve that can go up and down like an "M" or but not back over itself like an "S".

If an ordered pair is "on the graph" of a function then that ordered pair is a solution to that function.

e.g., (1, 2) is on the graph of y = 2x. (1, 2) is a solution to y = 2x.
