rate gas 1/rate gas 2 = sqrt MW gas 2 / sqrt MW gas 1
NH3 molar mass = 17 g/mol
HCl molar mass = 36.5 g/mol
We can't determine the rate of effusion of each gas as requested in the question, unless we know more information. We can, however, determine the RELATIVE RATES of effusion
sqrt 17 = 4.1
sqrt 36.5 = 6.0
NH3 will diffuse 1.5 x faster than HCl under the same conditions.
